The mailbox isn’t available. This may have occurred because the license for the mailbox has expired
One day i got a call in the morning, one of the users can’t access his mailbox from OWA (user is migrated from On premise Exchange to Office 365)
The error was like that
“something went wrong, The mailbox isn’t available. This may have occurred because the license for the mailbox has expired. To find out how to gain access to this mailbox again, contact the person who manages your email account.”
I have connected to the Exchange Admin Center on Office 365 , i found that this user has no licence but the mailbox exist !!!!!!!
After open a support case with MS Team , we found the below:
1- I have forget to add Exchange Licence to this user (oops……) , while the mailbox is active and running for 30 days
2- Microsoft said that there is indeed a grace period of 30 days post mailbox move to Exchange Online within which license can be assigned.
3- The solution is to just add the license to the user and he will be able to access his mailbox again
This information is not available in any technet or any public article
So for any one to avoid such issues , you can run the below command to get all users with mailbox and has no Exchange licence
get-mailbox | where {($_.recipienttypedetails -ne “Discoverymailbox”) -and ($_.skuassigned -ne “True”)} | ft name,skuassign*
Microsoft announced Unlimited storage for both OneDrive and OneDrive for Business.
The storage on Office 365 OneDrive and OneDrive for business is no matter an issue
Earlier this year Microsoft has upgraded the OneDrive for business from 25 GB to 1 TB Check the news
Now Microsoft has break all the Storage rules and upgrade one more time to UNLIMITED storage
However this is not all of it , in fact, still a limitation for OneDrive. It’s a limitation that Microsoft is aware of, and one that Microsoft is working to address in the near future. But, for the time being, your OneDrive account can only handle 20,000 individual files
So the limitation change from the storage issue to the number of files , You can sync up to 20,000 items in your OneDrive for Business library, including folders and files.
Skype for Business to Replace Microsoft Lync in 2015
Microsoft on Tuesday announced that its Skype brand will soon replace Lync, the software giant’s video and Web conferencing platform for businesses. The new offering, dubbed Skype for Business, will arrive in the first half of 2015
“In the first half of 2015, the next version of Lync will become Skype for Business with a new client experience, new server release, and updates to the service in Office 365,” he wrote. “We believe that Skype for Business will again transform the way people communicate by giving organizations reach to hundreds of millions of Skype users outside the walls of their business.” Microsoft estimates that over 300 million people use Skype to keep in touch and share content.
Microsoft says the big change is that Lync’s client will get Skype’s look and feel. None of Lync’s features will go, but some of Skype’s will appear including a user’s Skype contacts being available to Lync. Beyond that there’s not much more detail than a video so saccharine that we dare not embed it here lest the howls of derision wake sleeping Reg hacks on the other side of the planet.
